Spark Ignitor

Chris Wigboldus

Participating in projects with societal relevance, that’s what gets me out of bed in the morning! From reinforcing dikes that contribute to keeping our Delta inhabitable, to ensuring the safety and availability of both wet and dry infrastructure—sometimes visible, sometimes less visible, but always in a playing field where collaboration between people makes the difference!

With pride, I have chosen the title of “Spark Amplifier.” Because in every team that achieves a monumental ambition, the spark ignites and the engine starts running. Investing in team development is never a goal in itself, but the foundation for realizing that monumental ambition together. In infrastructure projects, I have the privilege of working with driven professionals who focus on both content and contracts. Having an eye for each other and each other’s interests, so we can truly understand what drives the other, adds value and is not always a given. My focus is on strengthening the connections between individuals and parties, and in cases of conflict, facilitating constructive dialogue. This way, we ensure that we can learn together without getting stuck in venting frustrations. That brings relief, laying the groundwork for amplifying the spark! Even if a project has been done multiple times, the context and people are always different.

“Ensuring that we can learn together without getting stuck in venting. That brings relief, the basis for amplifying the spark!”

This requires us to continuously reflect on a renewed introduction, where we (a) focus on mutual connection, (b) work on a shared values compass (which ground rules form the basis of our project culture), and (c) create a shared vision of success (when are we truly successful, and which interests are at stake). This leads to a shared starting point that connects! A compass that provides direction for the success we pursue and the culture we aim to foster through shared values! Because everywhere, and always, it’s the people and their spark that make the difference!
