Reinforcing six dike trajectories and developing innovative new techniques that can be used widely across the Dutch market: it was this aspiration that led Hoogheemraadschap Stichtse Rijnlanden (Stichtse Rijnlanden Water Authority) to launch the Innovatiepartnerschap Sterke Lekdijk (Sterke Lekdijk Innovation Partnership) in the market and bring on board three contractors. The Lek Ensemble – comprised of Heijmans, GMB and DEME Environmental NL – is part of this alliance. The joint venture is involved in two dike engineering projects to be carried out over an 8-year period, paving the way for the application of innovations. They have partnered with two other companies: Mourik and Van Oord.
